Did you know that Boscov’s Department Store, with the Times Union’s Table Hopping, is having a “Best Simple Recipe” contest?
Umm…I didn’t. And it sort of sounds like I’m not alone. Maybe it’s because it’s summer, but it seems that the entry count is low and Boscov’s is trying to drum up interest, so they reached out to see if I would be willing to give them a plug. Local department store chain running a recipe contest with an extra category just for kids? Heck yeah.
So you can start by reading about the contest on the Boscov’s site and at Table Hopping. Steve has links to the full rules and entry form on Table Hopping, so those are important. BUT, pay attention here, maybe to help get more entries it looks like the time to enter has BEEN EXTENDED. Per Boscov’s:
Calling all chefs! Boscov’s and the timesunion.com/tablehopping are sponsoring a Best Simple Recipe contest that will culminate in a cook-off at Boscov’s Colonie Center during our VIP Day on Saturday, September 16. Send us a recipe that’s appealing for the whole family and can be made with no more than 10 ingredients and in 20 minutes or less.
The winning adult will receive an Oneida deluxe 14-piece stainless steel knife set with block, and the top children’s winner (age 17 and younger) will receive an Oneida 10-piece stainless steel cookware set.
For entry forms and complete contest rules, visit the Boscov’s Colonie Center courtesy desk, or find it online at timesunion.com/tablehopping. Completed entries can be dropped off to the Boscov’s Colonie Center courtesy desk or emailed to email@example.com by Wednesday, August 16 at 5 p.m.
So not only do you have to get that recipe submitted, but there will be a final cook-off for the top three in each category (kids and adults) on September 16 at the Boscov’s in Colonie Center. And, as I said before, the great thing is that they are having a separate category for kids, which is pretty cool. And the prizes aren’t too shabby.
So, if you want some new cookware, and can come up with a simple recipe and whip it up live, think about entering. And if they’re truly short on entries, the odds are in your favor. Good luck!
