It seems like there’s always something interesting to pick up at Marshalls / Home Goods. At least if you have a weak spot for gourmet items at clearance prices (or even gourmet-like items). Today at the Home Goods on Rt 9 I decided not to fight the impulse buy for these:
Chocolate covered Oreos. Actually, Williams and Bennett’s Belgian Chocolate Drenched Oreo Cookies. Home Goods was packed with shoppers and filled to the brim with Christmas items. I figured these wouldn’t be anything extraordinary, but for $7.99, 12 Oreos covered in good chocolate sucked me in.
They’re certainly pretty enough. You could totally bring these as a hostess gift or similar. Even to a small Christmas party. They’re cute and well made. Williams and Bennett’s website isn’t too revealing. They seem to cover things, including Nutter Butters and Oreos, in “Belgian Chocolate”.
I went ahead and tried one, just for you, readers.
Yup. Oreo covered in milk chocolate (I wish it was dark, or at least a mix of milk and dark, but I knew they were milk). The best part is how very crunchy the Oreo remained. These must be fresh, the cookies were super crispy crunchy. The chocolate covering is decent enough for milk chocolate. Tasting a bit on its own finds it has a smooth enough melt and no bad notes or yucky aftertaste. They’re good. I don’t want to pound down the package, but they’ll get eaten over the next month and, as I said, they’d make a lovely gift. I’d certainly be happy to get a package of them. Home Goods had a few different packaging options with varying numbers of treats. Seeing the website, I’d like to try the Nutter Butter ones, too.
Really, though…why not just go to Krause’s Homemade Candy on Central – they’ve got both milk and dark chocolate covered Oreos and so much more.
